Hi I’m Cathy, an early years educator and mother of two boys 10 and 16. Over the past 16 years I have raised my family seeking to understand more about their individual sensory needs. Earlier in my career I taught in schools and then chose to teach Kindy in an Early Learning Centre. This is where my love of early years play began.

The activities are purposeful to help children develop core muscles to become ready for writing when they reach school. Whilst children play, parents interact closely by using language to enhance their child’s early learning experience.
We also focus on fine motor skills and cognitive skill development too. This is through construction, sorting, counting and our introductory mat session where we learn about the movement to make the mark of the week
I encourage children aged 8m-4years to join our classes. By 8months a baby is beginning to use core muscles to sit up and reach to grasp tools. At 4years many children are often enrolled in a kindergarten program through school. However all messy play is open ended and siblings are welcomed to be booked together 5m-5 years.
I will demonstrate playing alongside and encourage parents to use words that describe their child’s play. There are many opportunities to extend on language, turn taking skills and social play during our class. It’s also a playful class to attend if you are supporting a young one who may have sensory processing disorder. With different activities to touch you will begin to introduce your child to a range of textures. Our classes are always small groups creates a calm and welcoming experience for you and your child.
During the class you will see me interacting with the children and parents plus taking photos. The more we demonstrate the easier for young children to imitate the direction of the mark making patterns.
In the all ages sessions, children improve their fine motor grip through using arm and hand muscles throughout their whole body play. Extending on arts and crafts, we offer the use of tools such as tongs, glue, brushes, textas, chalk, and paint to express themselves.
