Slime has to be one of my most favourite things to play with, even as a kid I remember getting pots of monster green slime and my sister and I would see who could stick theirs to the window for the longest!
Slime has come a long way since then, with glitter, neon colours etc. Heaps of fun! But it’s not always that great for little mouths!
So here is a taste safe recipe for kids aged 5 months plus. Trust me, even you will want to get involved and play with this slime!
The best thing, it’s so easy to make!
What you need:
- A large plate
- A saucepan
- A wood spoon
- 1 dessert spoon Psyllium husk (you can find this in most supermarkets in the health food section, or a health store)
- *1 cup of warm water
- 2 drops of food colouring
Put all your ingredients in a saucepan on a low heat. Mix well and then keep stirring, you will notice that the mixture starts to thicken. Only thicken until it starts to come away from the sides of the saucepan and then tip out onto a large plate.
Let it sit and cool completely before use, the slime gets very hot when cooking.
Any there you have it, a perfect blob of slime!
We enjoy the runny slime so we can pretend to make ice poles and milk shakes using cups!
*The best thing with this recipe is you can make it more or less runny. In my classes I make my slime runny so it pours into my trays for the little ones to move their arms and legs in. To do this, you just need to add 1 extra cup of water, then cook until it thickens slightly and is the consistency of runny jam.
