Looking for the messy play sensory experience without the mess? Sensory bags are perfect for this!

Sensory bags are so easy to make, messy free and perfect for little hands to explore! You can add pretty much anything you want, just make sure it doesn’t have sharpe edges! They are great for babies to practice their tummy time and also amazing for sensory breaks for older kids.

How to make a chia seed slime bag and a Gelli Baff slime bag

Chia seed bag

What you need
  • 1/3 cup of chia seeds
  • 1 Cup water
  • Bowl
  • Food colouring
  • Ziplock bag (you may need 2)
  • Something for your child to explore – plastic eyes, pom poms, buttons, glitter etc (nothing with sharpe edges!)
  • Sellotape
How to make it
  • Put your chia seeds and water in the bowl and mix well, add the food colouring and mix again. Leave the mixture for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight in the fridge until it is thick and gloopy.
  • Put the slime into your bag and add your choosen item, I used eyes.
  • Seal the bag well and sellotape the top and bottom edges. You may want to put it in an extra bag!
  • Keep in the fridge for up to 1 week

Gelli Baff Bag

What you need
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of Gelli Baff (found in the bath product or toy sections of BigW, Kmart and Target)
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Ziplock bag (you may need 2)
  • Something for your child to explore – plastic eyes, pom poms, buttons, glitter etc (nothing with sharpe edges!)
  • Sellotape
How to make it
  • Pour your water into the bowl and add the Gelli Baff. Leave it for 5 minutes until it’s thick and slimy
  • Spoon the Gelli Baff into your bag and add your chosen items, I used pompoms
  • Seal your bag and tape with sellotape at the top and bottom, you may want to seal it in an extra bag
  • Keep it in the fridge for upto 3 weeks
