I can’t believe it’s Easter next Sunday! Where is the year going?! I also can’t believe that we still have all our Easter chocolate in the house, untouched…..well, most of it!
So today we started our Easter activities!
We have made some really simple coloured rice and spent over an hour playing with it, pouring it, stirring it, filling plastic eggs and carrots, sprinkling and scooping. This activity is suitable for children aged 5 months upwards, but please do not allow your child to consume the rice. Encourage them instead to move it around with their hands, sprinkle it, pour it and even use their feet to move it!
This is such a fun, simple, but engaging activity and takes almost no time at all to make!
All you need is:
- 2 cups of plain rice
- 2 bowls
- Food colouring
- 2 zip lock bags
- A tray
- Some play tools such as tubs, spoons, scoops etc.
Simply add 1 cup of rice into each bowl, put a few drops of your food colouring of choice into the bowls and stir until completely coated with the colour. Leave in the bowl to dry, stirring occasionally, this normally take about half an hour.
When it’s dry, pop the rice into a tray with the play tools and have fun!
