WELCOME!

At Little Messy Learners Ascot Vale, we believe childhood should be filled with wonder, movement, creativity, and a little bit of mess. Our educational messy play and Mark Making classes are designed to nurture your child’s confidence, curiosity, and early literacy skills through hands-on, play-based learning.

Each week, little learners meet our playful Mark Maker characters, who introduce the building blocks of writing through lines, arches, zigzags, and swirls. There’s no pressure to write letters or numbers—instead, we focus on developing the fine and gross motor skills that create strong foundations for future learning, all while your child simply enjoys the magic of play.

Led by qualified teacher and mum of three, Rebecca, every class combines evidence-based learning with the joy of childhood. With a passion for early literacy and a belief that the best learning happens through exploration, Rebecca creates meaningful experiences where children can learn, create, and thrive.

We can’t wait to welcome your family into our messy little world.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Please do not attend class if you or your child are unwell or have had vomiting or diarrhoea in the past 48 hours.

If for any reason you are unable to attend a class (including illness), please email rebecca@littlemessylearners.com.au with your name, class location and time.

Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable due to preparation and material costs, but you may be able to attend a make-up class if bookings permit, or transfer your ticket to someone else.

Classes run for 50 mins and follow a set structure to offer routine for the children.

1. Welcome – Join us on the mats for a short music and movement session, and an introduction to our mark making program

2. Open play – Explore the variety of experiences (wet messy play, dry messy play, painting, playdough, fine motor activities, gross motor activities & craft activities) at your own pace

3. Clean up – Help pack away a few resources (this teaches children about social responsibility) and get your little one cleaned up

4. Goodbye – say goodbye with a dance & bubbles

Clean face washers and towels are available during the sessions to keep your child comfortable. You can leave knowing your child had a wonderful sensory learning and discovery experience, and you can leave all the clean-up to us!

We highly encourage our families to get involved in play with your children. Children mirror what they see and hear. Playing alongside our children encourages them to try new things, instils confidence, and creates positive learning experiences with sensory exposure.

This is particularly important for children who are new to sensory play or have difficulty with mess, texture or sensory exploration. Adults are welcome to use our face washers and wipes at any time.

We are allergy aware and we DO NOT use any products containing common allergens, such as; nuts, soy, or eggs in our trays, however some products “may contain traces of” these allergens. Please make sure to let us know at the time of your booking if your child has any allergies. Food items inside the trays will be customised to account for allergies.

All our sensory trays are made with non-toxic, mostly food based products (because we all know little ones can’t resist putting things in their mouths). However, the contents in our trays are not made to be eaten and may cause an upset tummy if too much is consumed. For this reason, we discourage eating. Our art supplies are all non-toxic but should not be eaten or sucked on at any time. Supervision and parent participation is key.

Absolutely! Babies or older children who are not participating are most welcome to come along. We recommend using a baby carrier or bringing a pram so you can have your hands free to enjoy the time with your participating child. Please ensure all children are supervised by their carer at all times.

Children who are participating must have a valid booking, please make use of our sibling discounts (25-50%) for these times. If you book your children at separate times the system may not automatically apply your sibling discount. If this occurs please contact me directly to receive a discount code prior to making payment.

Customer Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it!

Great messy play for the kids with lots of creative stations, learning opportunities and no clean up needed for parents and carers. The teacher put so much effort into setting up an exciting tactile experience for the kids (I attended with my 3 year old and 1 year old) and I was impressed with the educational and mark making elements of the session.
Attended a session with my 2 year old daughter. The messy play opportunities were fabulous and creative. I loved that the mess wasn’t at my house! And enjoyed that their was an educational outcome associated with the class. Bec was friendly and very supportive. Highly recommend for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Something for everyone!

My 6 month old had a super fun and messy time playing with all the Christmas activities set up! It was great that we were able to take our creations home! Thank you for a very enjoyable experience, looking forward to coming again!

My toddler and I had a wonderful experience at Little Messy Learners Ascot Vale. The space is set up with varied sensory experiences. The program encourages plenty of fun & exploration in a relaxed environment. Bec is a fantastic facilitator who makes everyone feel welcome. Highly recommend if you’re thinking of more messy play!
